Basketry
We use basketry techniques in some of our handmade products. The variety and richness the use of natural fibers gives to products is unmistakable.
Basketry as an artisanal technique creates a strong bond between the crafts and an ecological responsibility for nurturing the plants/raw material. It's uniqueness lies in the local availability of the fibers used for the basket making, and its plethora of different types are only matched by the various typologies which were put into use since ever.
If traditionally the baskets are associated to rural and agricultural day to day, in VICARA's products you will find a more symbolical and contemporary use. We produce our basket pieces in collaboration with local artisans as Passa ao Futuro and Loulé Criativo.
