After the initial proposal by Loulé Design Lab's director, designer and teacher Henrique Ralheta, VICARA organized a creative residence with Loulé Criativo – an initiative of the Municipality of Loulé that bets on valuing the identity of the territory - in their coppersmithing and palm leaf weaving workshops.
We invited 4 designers to collaborate with us on this project, based on their mixed experimentalism, youth and critical skills: Eneida Lombe Tavares, João Xará, Miguel Cardinho and Soraia Gomes Teixeira.
João Xará and Miguel Cardinho worked at the Oficina de Caldeireiros, with masters Analide Carmo and Jürgen Cramer. Eneida Lombe Tavares and Soraia Gomes Teixeira developed their projects at Casa da Empreita, directly with artisasn Sónia Mendez, and the couple Margarida Cortez and Jorge Ferreira.
By joining Loulé Criativo on their mission of supporting the training and activity of artisans and professionals in the creative sector, VICARA was able to participate in the revitalization of traditional arts and stimulate new approaches to intangible cultural heritage.
